Everyone gets lost at sea sometimes, when we feel like the harbour isn’t visible and land is a word that was a mere figment of our imagination. All we find around us is deep, scary, endless water that sees no end, no beginning and no shore.
We hold our breaths in, close our eyes shut and for those few passing seconds recall all that constituted our happiness; and for those few seconds, our lips curl upwards to form a fragile smile almost as if the sea on which we’re floating on is a swing that cradles us into a place called home.
Those few seconds shatter, our eyes open to welcome reality as if it was an old friend that embraces us with its fangs drenched in venom. Floating around in that endless ocean, there’s suddenly a literal ray of light – a light house not so far away with its arms outstretched, waiting to guide us to shore – our own, personalized break from reality.
And, that’s when we realize all we need is one hand, one friendly smile, two sparkling eyes and that one ray of light to guide us to shore.
And on reaching the shore we know that home was never a destination but just a person to adore.
